The simplest way to understand all of this is that an Elite status' sole reason for existing is to make a ship's Ship XP eligible for conversion to Free XP (for doubloons, of course). If you used XP to research but did not buy the modules they still count towards elite. Also I had sold some ships but does that break the chain of upgrades or am I just guessing? THANKS in advance as always. Confusing but I am sure there is a rational explanation in regards to this. I checked on my other ships which are Elite and I only upgraded the HULL and nothing else and yet they became ELITE status.
I thought maybe you had to upgrade everything and I did but nothing changed. I had done so but the status is still regular ships which cannot convert into FREE XP but only SHIP XP. I have read on the forum there that you must upgrade to the better hulls to become a ELITE ship on the ship being played. Now that I am grinding for the Mighty MO.if and when I get there I am curious and at a loss to HOW they became ELITE status. Okay my question is those ships did become so but I really did not pay attention too much. Those ships generate Free XP generally speaking. I had seen that some of my ships had become into ELITE status with the fig that surrounds the ship icon.
